Piotr Kulikowski was born in Krakow, Poland, a wonderful town filled with classic European Medieval architecture and a long history for the arts, which provided a rich background and firm foundation for his sense of aesthetics. In learning to create his own art, Kulikowski actively participated in both art history and art techniques classes throughout his primary and secondary education. That foundation taught him to appreciate art from an artist’s perspective and ignited a fire within his heart for painting, which has persisted over time. More recently, he came to a juncture in his life when he was jokingly advised to take up painting as an aid in rehabilitation for a wrist injury.
His desire and passion for painting was rekindled! And he has taken to painting by storm. Both his passion for art and my creative edge is honed daily by a hunger to improve my work. He draw inspiration from the greats, like Bonnard and Van Gogh—where his love for art began. In this selection of works, he favor using a vibrant color palette and chroma, always striving to preserve the essence of my subject matter while maintaining abstract viewpoints and painting techniques.
Artist Statement:
My work often begins in the imagination, transforming internal visions into tangible forms. I draw inspiration from the greats, Bonnard, Van Gogh,and channel that influence into my own vibrant, expressive style. Color is like music to me—each hue carries rhythm and mood, adding emotional weight to the canvas.
My paintings transform classic still life and landscape themes into modern visual expressions. With a strong focus on color, chroma, texture, and composition, I strive to create vivid and compelling oil paintings. I blend realistic depictions with impressionistic techniques and modern aesthetics, aiming to offer a fresh perspective that still honors the masters of the past.
Many of my works border on abstraction through their use of color and compositional experimentation.
By combining varied oil painting techniques with bold palettes, I create images that stand on their own, alive with energy, memory, and emotion.
