Bio:

For more than a decade, Malia Meyer has transformed discarded CDs into vibrant works of art, giving new life to materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. She began her creative journey designing jewelry under the name Music To My Ears Jewelry. As collectors and supporters discovered her work, donations of old CDs quickly exceeded what jewelry alone could repurpose. Inspired by this challenge, Malia created her first sculptural lampshade in 2024. Each handcrafted shade incorporates 40–80 recycled CDs, combining sustainability with whimsical, nature-inspired design. While sculptural lighting has become her newest artistic passion, jewelry remains at the heart of her creative practice, and earrings continue to be a signature part of her work.

Artist Statement:

I recycle CDs into a glass like material. Remove label/cut color/fuse. Custom molds to form shape. During fusing movement occurs causing Irregularities. These are embraced as character and anchor wire
