Artist Statement:
My love of pottery began in 1985 when I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Il, under the direction of Bill Heyduck. I have been producing and selling my functional stoneware pottery throughout central Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, & Iowa. The pottery is all hand-made and of original design. The pottery is fired to a cone 10 (2,340 degrees), in a gas reduction kiln, making it durable and very strong.
For the past 36 years, I’ve grown as a production potter. In 2018, I received a best ceramics at Edwards Place, Mt Vernon Cedarhurst and Q-Fest in Quincy and a 2nd place at Decatur Art in the Park
My husband, Jay, started helping me in my studio before we were married. We have four children, Katie 37, Dave 35, Paul 34, and my youngest, Stevie is 25 years old. We live in rural Effingham, Illinois on three acres that runs along Green Creek. My studio is the basement of our home. The kiln shed is “out
back”. I make mix the clay in an old soldner mixer. My glazes are formulated and mixed using raw materials.
