Artist Statement:
I’ve been an infrared photography specialist for over 20 years. I fell in love with the medium the first time I saw its unique, surreal appearance. I began my career selling hand-colored infrared photographs, but my current focus is maximum resolution, high dynamic range color infrared landscapes. Based on feedback from around the country, I am currently the only artist specializing in this medium who does the large art fairs countrywide.
I call my art “Dreamscapes” or “Magical Realism.” I use a special camera that has been modified so that it captures both visible and infrared light simultaneously. I use various external filters to select different gamuts of the electromagnetic spectrum, which I choose depending on the effect I wish to create. The results are amazing, like “Ansel Adams on steroids.” Combining visible and infrared light creates an image with unique hue combinations, tonal qualities and, given I print on metal, vibrance.
I have been blessed to be a world pioneer in infrared photography and I love what I do. It is an honor to travel the country and beautify collector’s homes and businesses with my artwork.
