After many years I am back painting and creating art. I started many years ago at the College of Charleston receiving a Bachelor in Arts degree and the Outstanding Artist Award of my graduating class. After graduating life took me down a different path. For the last 24 years I have been teaching first grade and have loved it. Teaching is a calling, and I know I have made a difference and put a smile on many faces. When COVID came into our lives my path changed once again. I still teach, but I am back pursuing my art.
In 2021 I was chosen to be a part of the St. Louis Art Fair Emerging Artist Program. The first year we were mentored and the second year, 2022, we displayed our work at the art fair in Clayton. It was an incredible opportunity! Since then I’ve been invited to show my work in a number of shows in and around the St. Louis and Illinois area and I even had a piece displayed on Donnybrook/PBS television show.
I love working with pastels as well as working with oil on stretched canvas. Oil is a medium which allows for me to work more freely, changing and forming the image as I go along.
When you look at my work you’ll see I like capturing images that make me feel good and peaceful. I especially like working large and focusing on an image, its shape/shapes and color. I bring the viewer in by focusing more closely on the subject, breaking the image into parts of a whole in order to create more interest, and just have
