Bio:
Lee became interested in paper arts when she came upon a book on origami.
Soon after, she felt comfortable with letting her experimentation soar.
Butterfly paper folding is a simple process; some pieces take a journey of their own. Paper folding takes a one-dimensional piece of paper and turns it into a three-dimensional experience.
Her art creates an illusion of butterflies in flight, and her use of a palette of colors laid out in a unique formation has become her brand.
Artist Statement:
Individually folded paper that has been transformed into butterflies, cranes, doves, dragonflies, and peacocks, with a gradation of colors presented on a marbleized, watercolor, or washi background.
