Bio:
Driven by imagination and the need to see around the next bend, I have been fascinated by what is just out of sight. A story to find yourself lost in, spun up by my own imagination, until I learned when I leave my paintings open around the edges, others are invited in. They tell me a tale, short or long, which is then borrowed for a moment and given scribbled lines of a doodle, or a broad strokes of color. From early childhood, everything around me was a story, from cartoons on the TV to the books my mother read in the evening just before bed. This is what has always been the forefront of my art and will be there until the very last page.
I graduated from Alfred, School of Art and Design, New York, in 2002 and moved to the St. Louis area in 2005. The majority of my work is with watercolor because of it’s wonderful range between seriousness and whimsy.
Artist Statement:
Flowing forms of color that entwine trees with animals or humans. Form is used to guide the story across the paper. Many layers of paint build up so some areas are airy while others opaque.
